Finding out something controversial is never a pleasant experience but learning that your child is in a relationship with your relative is enough to make you go through every emotion possible in a matter of minutes. Here’s how the families have been processing every bomb dropped.

Initial shock

No one thus far has won the fight against holding a successful poker face. The shock on every family member’s face is one for the books, with every one of them searching for some kind of help even after host Wright Ngubeni nods and lets the couple continue with their confession.

Denial

Naturally when you are faced with a situation that you can’t fathom, denial is the only thing that makes sense when the couples rip off the bandage. The news is too taboo that none of them believe it at first until they realise that the story is as solid as a rock.

Judgement

They listen and they judge. The couples come with little to no faith that their news will be welcomed, and their predicament understood, but the level of judgement from their loved ones leave them distraught. While the judgement could be downplayed because of not being aware that they are related at first, staying together after finding out makes it worse and gives their families more ammunition to not only judge, but completely disapprove.

Anger

Seeing two adults consenting to staying together even when they know that they are not allowed to, has led to mothers, fathers and uncles losing it and not being able to comprehend the mess that they find themselves in.

Continuous shock

While shock continues to be the state of every individual, some have even gotten to the point of threatening to disown their family especially when they refuse to end their relationships. It gets messy fast but families shall keep finding out.
