The 50th birthday party came with surprises.
Hot off the thanksgiving ceremony the Mselekus had to thank their ancestors for life after the hospital scare, the family got dressed up for the long-awaited birthday celebration.
The tradition over the years has been to rotate the responsibility to plan Mseleku’s birthday party among the wives and his 50th one fell on MaNgwabe’s shoulders. She welcomed the hostess duties, despite saying that this will be her farewell gift to their husband. She has long wanted to leave him.
The event presented shortcomings for arrival times. It showed that there are three types of people when it comes to punctuality.
The early bird
Apart from the fact that Mseleku was Mr Party, he is also a self-proclaimed punctual person and as such he was among the early arrivals at the event. He believes that even though guests are in attendance for you, it is also important to honour and afford them the same respect by showing up on time.
The fashionably late
MaKhumalo only touched down hours after the party had commenced and shockingly, quite nonchalant. Stepping in with her green glittery night gown, she stated that she obviously had to get dolled up and thus, saw no reason for further explanations.
The “be glad I showed up”
Now, being the one who planned the black and gold themed party, MaNngwabe didn’t need to show up almost five hours after her husband, but she did. She had explanations ready but if anyone saw the necessity to interrogate further, she simply went on to enjoy the night with whoever was glad that she came.
