Mseleku’s health has been on the rocky side and even led him to being admitted to hospital. After coming out on the other side, he feels compelled to recognise how blessed he is and give thanks. However, the planned ceremony has come with eyebrow-raising issues.
Will all the wives be present?
The invitations commenced with Mseleku going from one house to the next informing his wives about his plans and desire to have them present. He was met with different reactions. MaNgwabe wondered what he is grateful for and then thought it a tad dramatic, while MaYeni couldn’t get past the fact that he once blocked her ceremony but now wants to do something similar. Basically, the register will only be marked on the day.
Introducing number five
“We never attended ceremonies as girlfriends” is the only phrase the wives would appreciate if Mseleku understood. His determination to introduce his number five, MaKhwela, to the Duma family on the day of the ceremony has rubbed all the ones that know the wrong way. The agreement had always been to meet her once lobola has been paid but it seems the man of the house is going back on his word.
MaKhumalo handling the preparations
One of the biggest issues Mseleku and his wives have had in the past is the unshakeable feeling that MaKhumalo tends to act like she is the only wife when she handles certain family matters. This has the potential to resurface now that she has been asked to arrange catering for the upcoming thanksgiving ceremony. While MaKhumalo was hesitant, she eventually agreed to handle it as long as their husband has her back.
It is a celebratory time, but also promises to come with a lot of drama.
